The Canadian Axe Throwing Championships are a tournament style competition using double-bitted axes. It is an Open Tournament format, meaning all nations are welcome to compete.
Competitors throw an axe from 20ft away at a competition target which has five 2'' diameter scoring rings. Each time their axe secures into the target they earn points for that throw which accumulate and rank them in the tournament. Scoring is as follows; 5points for hitting the center of the target (a bullseye!), then 4 pts, 3, 2 and 1 as you move out towards the edge of the target. No points are awarded if the axe does not stick into the target.
This tournament take place over several days with competitors battling through qualification and championship rounds.
