About US

Founded in 2016, the Nova Lumberjacks society is a volunteer based registered Nova Scotia non-profit organization (Reg. #3295101) whose mandate is to grow and promote lumberjack sports and its athletes. We achieve this by organizing and hosting high level competitions, coaching and mentoring young athletes and through supporting national axe throwing team fundraising initiatives.
In 2022, the NLS was able to provide support in a number of ways to the Loggersports community:
- We provided $1500 in support to Nova Scotia Guides Annual Meet held in Hibernia, which is the longest running event of it's kind in North America and includes both logger sports and traditional guiding events like canoeing and fly casting.
- We provided $650 to Denys Lemire from Saskatchewan to help with his travel costs so he could come to the 2022 World Double-bit Axe Throwing Championships as the sole representative of the Canadian prairie provinces.
- We provided $500 in support to the Canadian Axe Throwing Team to help with purchasing branded team apparel for the World Championships
- We provided the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Woodsmen team with $500 in support to help with their travel costs in the Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking Association college Loggersports circuit.
